Sosta is built so that your data stays with you. There is no account, no tracking and no advertising.

What stays on your device

The apps and websites you choose to lock, your lock, the time you locked and your coins are stored on your iPhone or Mac.

Sync with iCloud

To keep iPhone and Mac in sync, Sosta stores your lock, your website lists, your locked time and your coins in your private iCloud. Only you can access this data. The developer has no access to it. Apps you choose on the iPhone are not synced.

Screen Time on iPhone

On iPhone, Sosta uses Apple's Screen Time. Apple only shares anonymous tokens with Sosta, so Sosta cannot see which apps you use or which websites you visit.

Browsers on Mac

On Mac, Sosta checks the address of the open tab in your browser to block the websites on your lists. This happens only on your Mac. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

No analytics, no third parties

Sosta does not collect usage data and does not share data with third parties.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. Sosta only learns whether you are unlocked and until when. Payment details are never shared with Sosta.

Checking the time

So that coins can't be earned by changing the clock, Sosta asks sosta.web.app or apple.com for the current time now and then. Only the time is read. Like any web request, it reaches the server with your IP address. Nothing else is sent.

Website and Mac download

This website and the Mac download are hosted by Google Firebase. When you visit, Firebase processes your IP address and technical details of your browser to deliver the pages, as described in Google's privacy policy. Sosta does not use cookies or analytics here.

Deleting your data

In Sosta, open Settings and choose Delete all data. This removes your lock, lists, stats and coins from the device and from iCloud. Only the start date of your free week and the end of anything you paid for are kept in your iCloud, so the free week can't start over and nothing you bought is lost. Deleting the app removes the data on that device.

Your rights

You can ask what data about you is processed, and have it corrected, deleted or restricted. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
